General Candle Burning Safety

  • Safe Placement:

    • Burn candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

    • Keep candles away from flammable materials.

    • Do not place candles in drafts or near open windows.

  • Supervision:

    • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

    • Extinguish candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.

  • Children and Pets:

    • Keep burning candles out of reach of children and pets.

    • Never allow children to handle or light candles without adult supervision.

Candle Maintenance

  • Wick Trimming:

    • Trim the wick to ¼ inch (5mm) before each burning to prevent smoking and sooting.

    • Use a wick trimmer, scissors, or nail clippers.

    • Remove any wick trimmings or debris from the wax pool.

  • Burn Time:

    • Do not burn candles for more than 3-4 hours at a time.

    • Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.

  • Extinguishing Candles:

    • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish candles safely.

    • Avoid blowing out candles, as this can cause hot wax to splatter.

    • Ensure the candle is completely extinguished and no longer smoldering.

Candle Container Safety

  • Container Material:

    • Use containers specifically designed for candles that are heat-resistant and non-flammable.

  • Container Condition:

    • Inspect containers for cracks, chips, or damage before use.

    • Do not use damaged containers.

  • Wax Level:

    • Do not burn a candle all the way down.

    • Leave at least ½ inch (13mm) of wax at the bottom of the container to prevent it from overheating.

  • Warnings:

    • Burn within sight.

    • Keep away from flammable objects.

    • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

    • Trim wick to ¼ inch before lighting.

    • Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

    • Do not burn for more than 3-4 hours at a time.

    • Never leave burning candle unattended.

    • Extinguish candle properly.
